How to reduce the size of my Facebook ZIP file<\/h1>\n<\/div><\/section>\n

Facebook only allows you to download all of your chats together in one single ZIP file. That’s why this ZIP file can sometimes be really large. Our software, however, can only process files with a size up to 4 Gigabyte. So, in order to upload your Facebook ZIP file to zapptales, you first need to reduce its size. Don’t worry – this might sound rather technical, but it’s really easy if you follow our step-by-step guide \ud83d\ude0a<\/p>\n

    1. Extract the content of the ZIP file<\/h3>\n<\/div><\/section>

    If you select the file (by clicking on it once), the option “Extract all” is shown. Click on this option to extract your ZIP file.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/p><\/div>

    2. Open the “messages” folder<\/h3>\n<\/div><\/section>

    The “messages” folder contains all the contents of your Facebook chats.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/p><\/div>

    3. Delete the “archived threads” folder and open the “inbox” folder<\/h3>\n<\/div><\/section>

    1. Delete the “archived threads” folder. This folder contains all those chats you have archived in the past. Of course, you don’t need those for the upload process.<\/li>\n
    2. Open the “inbox” folder. This folder contains all your active Facebook chats.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div><\/section><\/p><\/div>

      4. Delete all the chats you don’t want to print<\/h3>\n<\/div><\/section>

      This folder contains all your active Facebook chats. Since you only want to print one particular Facebook chat, however, you can delete all the other chats. This way you drastically reduce the size of your final ZIP file in one go.<\/p>\n

      Of course, the folder of the chat you want to print with zapptales has to remain.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/p><\/div>

      5.1. Create a new ZIP file<\/h3>\n<\/div><\/section>

      Now you can go back two levels (click the “left” arrow twice) until you reach the folder containing the files “index.html” and the “messages” folder. Select exactly these two files.<\/p>\n

      Right-click on your mouse once your have selected both files.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/p><\/div>

      5.2. Create a new ZIP file<\/h3>\n<\/div><\/section>

      Now, select “Send to” and then\u00a0“Compressed (zipped) folder” in order to create a new ZIP file. That’s your new, reduced ZIP file you upload to zapptales in the next step.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/p><\/div>\n\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
