There\u00a0are many reasons why you might want to download your Facebook Messenger Chat history: You may want to save a certain Messenger conversation or you just want to have a backup outside of Facebook. Open your Facebook account<\/strong> and click on the small triangle in the top right corner of your screen (1) to access your \u201eSettings<\/strong>\u201c (2). Next, click on \u201eYour Facebook Information<\/strong>\u201c (3) and then on \u201eDownload a copy of your information\u2026<\/strong>\u201c (4).<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div>

On this page you can select the data you want to download from Facebook.<\/p>\n

First, click \u201eDeselect All<\/strong>\u201c (1). Then, tick the box in the \u201eMessages<\/strong>\u201c section (2) to download your chats only. Finally, just click on \u201eCreate File<\/strong>\u201c (3) in the top right corner.<\/p>\n

Facebook will then prepare the download of your messages. This process can take up to 15 minutes, depending on the number and size of your chats.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div>
