Why do I have to select my name?

There are 2 folders for media files for each chat. There’s one for sent media and one for received media. Choosing your name helps our app to find the correct pictures, videos and voice messages.

The app crashed and there is no progress

I have installed the Android app and am trying to upload my chat – but the upload shows no progress or the app crashes. What can I do?

In this case, please check to following:

  • Please make sure that you always use the most recent version of our app.
  • It is important that you use a stable WiFi connection to upload your chat. If you do not have a stable connection right now, please try again once you have a stable connection.
  • It might be that you have too many other apps open in the background. Please make sure to close all these apps completely and restart the chat upload. For most Android phones, you can close your apps this way:
    1. Click on the square button at the bottom of your screen
    2. Select “close all”

The app crashed

If the upload process does not seem to progress or has stopped we recommend the following steps:

  1. Check if you have the latest version of the app installed. If not, please update to the latest version through the app store.
  2. Sometimes the iPhone has some difficulties in processing big amounts of data and is not able to upload the chat if there are too many other apps opened at the same time. Therefore, we recommend you to close all other apps (by double clicking on the home button and swiping up all the other apps) and to try the upload again.
  3. Sometimes a lack of free space in the iPhone might cause the upload to stop. Please check how much memory is left on your phone. In case it is under 2GB we recommend deleting some files in order to free some space. You can delete large videos from the galery or the temporary files from Safari.
  4. In case it’s a very long chat with a lot of media, it might be too much for our app. Please export your chat via iCloud. How it works is explained here. 😊

If, after doing these steps, it still does not work please contact our support team (support@zapptales.com).

Will all emojis, stickers, characters and smileys be printed?

In general, it is possible to print any kind of WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, iMessage, Threema or Telegram messages – including all emojis, smileys, stickers and characters.

WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, iMessage, Threema and Telegram regularly update their smileys database, and we always do our best to keep up to date 😊 If you happen to still find a mistake regarding these special characters, please let us know.

Do I have access to the videos and voice messages even though I’ve only ordered a PDF? Do I still need a QR Code scanner?

If you have ordered your book or PDF with QR codes, they appear in the PDF as well. In this case, you need a QR code scanner as well to access the videos and voice messages. 😊

Does zapptales also print books from other instant messaging services or text messages?

Currently, we print WhatsAppFacebook Messenger, Instagram, iMessage, Threema and Telegram chats as a book. We are already working on integrating other messaging services.

I want to print my WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, iMessage, Instagram, Telegram or Threema chat as a book. How long can my chat be? Is there a data limit?

There is no data limitation if you want to print your WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, iMessage, Threema or Telegram chat – your chat can be as long as you want. Very long chats are simply divided into volumes.

Is there a minimum length my chat needs to have to be printed as a book?

There is no exact minimum length you chat needs to have – yet, to turn it into a book, it needs at least 36 pages. But don’t worry – if your chat has less than 36 pages, our software adds plain pages and you can still print a book. On these pages, you can add personal notes, write down your thoughts or add more pictures to make your book even more personal! 😊
